Healthy Challenge guide

How it works?

Connect once, track normally in Strava, and the challenge takes care of the rest.

Getting started

1

Log in with Strava

Strava authorisation lets the app read your activities and keep your challenge results updated.

2

Connect Slack

Slack confirms your work identity and lets the challenge send useful updates or notifications.

3

Choose your country

Add your name if you want, pick your country, and you are ready to join open editions.

4

Track normally

Record workouts in Strava as usual. No extra upload or manual entry is needed here.

Nothing else is needed in Strava

You do not need to join a Strava club, follow anyone, change privacy settings for the challenge, or do any special Strava-side setup. Just record activities in Strava after logging in here and connecting Slack.

How activities arrive

Initial backfill

After onboarding, the app starts a background import of your Strava activities from the last year so your dashboard can fill in quickly.

Automatic updates

New, edited, and deleted Strava activities are handled automatically through Strava webhook events.

Daily safety net

A daily sync checks the last year again in case a webhook was missed during a deployment or temporary Strava delivery issue.

Points calculation

Distance activities earn points by category. The multipliers are balanced around typical recreational pace.

🚶Walk / Hike

Walking and hiking count as the walking category.

4 pts / km
🏃Run / Virtual Run

Outdoor and virtual runs share the same multiplier.

2 pts / km
🚴Ride / Virtual Ride / E-bike Ride

Cycling activity distance counts in the biking category.

1 pts / km
🏊Swim

Swim distance receives a higher multiplier because typical swim distance is lower.

8 pts / km
🏅Other activities with distance

Any non-core Strava activity with recorded distance goes into Other (distance).

1 pts / km
💪Other activities without distance

Zero-distance activities can appear in activity-count or time views, but they do not receive distance points.

What leaderboards show

Main leaderboard

Edition views count activities inside the edition date range. Overall views use all synced activity data.

Time spent

The time-spent view ranks moving time from synced Strava activities.

Teams and countries

Team, country, and challenge views reuse the same activity categories and scoring rules where points are shown.

Activity review

Activities that look unrealistic can be flagged for admin review. Excluded activities do not count in aggregate leaderboards.

Q&A

Why is my activity missing?

Give the sync a little time first. If it still does not appear, check that you tracked it in the Strava account you used here and that your Strava connection has not expired.

Do I need to join a Strava club?

No. The challenge reads authorised activities directly from your connected Strava account.

Why do I need Slack?

Slack links your challenge account to your work identity and enables direct messages for team assignments, reconnect reminders, and activity review notices.

What if I edit or delete an activity in Strava?

Strava sends updates to the app. The daily sync is also there to reconcile anything that was missed.

What if Strava asks me to reconnect?

Open your profile and reconnect Strava. Once the authorisation is refreshed, syncing can continue.

What counts as “Other”?

Any Strava type outside walking, running, cycling, and swimming. If it has distance, it is scored as Other (distance); if it has no distance, it is tracked only where count or time views support it.
